What explains why the trade winds blow towards Equator?

The trade winds do not blow toward the Equator. Instead, they are prevailing easterly winds that flow generally from east to west between the latitudes of 30° north and 30° south of the Equator. The major factor driving the trade winds is the uneven heating of the Earth's surface by the sun.
