Blacks Over 40 was founded in 1999 as a nonprofit social network for African American singles. The network seeks to connect men and women in social interaction where they can share life experiences and opinions on social issues, financial matters and education. The network created an annual Blacks Over 40 cruise, which takes singles, families and couples on an adventure at sea. The 2010 cruise guests sailed aboard the Carnival Freedom from Ft. Lauderdale to San Juan, St. Thomas, Antigua and Nassau. African American singles over 40 enjoy card tournaments, dance contests and speed dating aboard the ship. The cruise ship activities coordinator, Martha Hardy said on Exodus Online, "Here we can break out in the stroll, cha-cha, and, of course, the bop...." This annual cruise event is for the single African American who is young at heart and ready to mingle.
Black Singles Love Cruise is annual event for African American singles. Ships sail yearly to destinations including Spain, Italy and France. Guests aboard the ship enjoy live performances from their favorite genres of music such as Nu Soul and R&B. Singles looking for love take part in beach excursions, theme parties, speed dating and couples activities. Love Cruise 2010's theme was "Fun, Freedom, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness," according to the official website, which encourages guests to experience exotic islands and open the door to love on one of their cruises.

The Carnival Valor ship includes a nine-hole golf course, a fine dining steakhouse and the Carnival Seaside Theatre. Cruises also features large staterooms for comfortable accommodations.
