How many people go abroad each year?

The number of people traveling abroad has seen a significant increase over the past few decades, driven by factors such as globalization, rising disposable incomes, increased mobility, and the growth of the tourism industry. According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), international tourist arrivals reached a record high of 1.4 billion in 2018. This number represents a 6% increase over 2017 and continues the sustained growth observed in recent years.

The Asia Pacific region experienced the largest growth in international tourist arrivals in 2018, with a 7% increase. Europe followed closely with a 6% increase, and the Middle East saw an 10% growth. The Americas and Africa had modest growth rates of 3% and 5%, respectively.

These statistics indicate that the number of people traveling abroad each year continues to rise significantly, contributing to the global tourism industry's growth and shaping international travel patterns and trends.
