The best way to cut expenses is to choose cheaper hotels over luxury hotels. There are many cheap hotels and hostels in Potosi that are available for the frugal visitor to Bolivia.
  1. Hotel La Casona Potosi

    • The Hotel La Casona Potosi alternately refers to itself as a hotel and as a hostel. A yellow building situated on a street corner, the hotel is located just 100 meters from the Main Plaza in the center of Potosi. The building that houses the hotel was built by the Spaniards in the 18th century and contains 25 rooms. All rooms have beds -- either double beds or dorm-style bunk beds, cable TV, private bathrooms and central heating. There are several outdoor patios around the hotel, as well as a courtyard with a fountain. As of late January 2011, rooms go for approximately $26 per night.

    Hotel Gran Libertador Potosi

    • The Hotel Gran Libertador in Potosi is a three-star hotel located in a colonial-style pink building. The hotel has 23 rooms and two suites available for guests. All rooms come with double beds and telephones, as well as central heating, hot water, cable TV, cable Internet access and private bathrooms. In the hotel are a meeting room, a restaurant called "La Cantera," a laundromat, a terrace with a gazebo and money exchange services. There are nightstands with lamps on either side of the beds, as well as carpeting, central heat and television and wireless Internet in the hotel's rooms. All rooms also come with private bathrooms. The staff at the Santa Teresa hotel speak English. The hotel offers a restaurant, a laundromat and conference rooms for business travelers. As of January 2011, rooms start at $32 per night.
