Cheap Vacations in Wisconsin

A Wisconsin vacation does not have to be expensive. There are a wide range of sites that travelers can visit, even if they have a small budget. Vacationers can have fun and visit plenty of attractions if they know how to spend their trip dollars wisely. Planning destinations and knowing where to look for discounts take a large part in saving money on any vacation.
  1. Wisconsin Dells

    • The Wisconsin Dells area is Wisconsin's biggest tourist attraction. Located in southern Wisconsin, the Dells area is best known for their water parks. Hotels all throughout the Dells have built-in indoor water parks that the whole family can enjoy. For visitors not willing to get wet, there are also theme parks with roller coasters and go karts along with golf courses and haunted houses. With so much to offer, a Wisconsin Dells vacation can quickly deplete a budget. To avoid that, look for discounts and coupons online and use those at your favorite attractions and hotels. Coupons offer a wide variety of savings including free admission to various attractions and discounts at retail stores.

    Door County Scenic Drive

    • There is nothing cheaper than sitting outdoors and relaxing in nature. In eastern Wisconsin, Door County offers visitors scenic views throughout its peninsula. In one afternoon, travelers can walk through parks, watch the waves at Lake Michigan and visit the shops in Egg Harbor, Sturgeon Bay or Carlsville. A short scenic drive vacation will cost just a small amount of gas, food and a hotel room. To save even more on entertainment, visit when there is a free festival. The Festival of Blossoms happens in the spring while the Holidays and Holly Nights tree lighting event is held in the winter.

    Devil's Lake State Park

    • A camping trip can save money on the cost of an expensive hotel and restaurants. Pack a sleeping bag and some food and head to Devil's Lake, Wisconsin. With plenty of campsites to stay, this park offers swimming, hiking, scuba diving, climbing and fishing areas. Camping fees start at just $15 per night.

    Lake Geneva

    • Lake Geneva is a town located in southern Wisconsin. Travelers can visit the multitude of craft and clothing shops, fish off the pier or swim at the lake, all for free. Festivals are also free. Participate in events like the Classic Car Rally and the Lake Geneva bicycle tour, both held in September. Accommodations within Lake Geneva city limits can be expensive, as it is a tourist highlight in the area, so it is recommended that vacationers stay overnight in a nearby town, such as Waterford or cross the border to Richmond, IL.
