Las Vegas is one of the best places to be for New Year's Eve, with its many fireworks shows and great parties. Unfortunately, the prices of hotel rooms tends to go up as New Year's Eve approaches, and those price spikes can be quite significant. Fortunately there are some lower cost hotels visitors can use to cut their costs without missing out on the excitement of a Las Vegas vacation. When booking a hotel room in Las Vegas, it is generally a good idea to look for a property on the Las Vegas Strip. Las Vegas is a big place, and budget-minded visitors can waste a great deal of time and money getting from far-flung hotels to the heart of the action. The good news is there are still some bargains to be had, even in the heart of the Strip.
The Stratosphere is an excellent place to watch the excitement of Las Vegas on New Year's Eve, and staying at this conveniently located hotel gives you access to the tallest structure in town. Watching the excitement of Las Vegas from the observation deck is a great way to celebrate the New Year, and the rooms here are quite affordable. Visitors can save even more by signing up for the Statosphere's slot player's club a few months before they plan to visit--there are a number of specials just for club members.

Older hotels tend to be excellent values in Las Vegas, where old buildings are constantly being torn down to make way for newer and ever more expensive gambling casinos and hotels. Circus Circus is one of the oldest remaining properties on the Las Vegas strip, and it is also one of the best values for a holiday vacation. Would-be New Year's Eve revelers should keep in mind that this hotel caters to families with children, so you will probably see plenty of kids running around. For families with young children, this can be a plus. Circus Circus has plenty of kid-friendly attractions, including its own indoor amusement park.

The Sahara hotel is a great budget hotel for New Year's Eve as well. Although prices do tend to go up when the holidays arrive, the prices here are likely to be quite a lot lower than most other Las Vegas hotels. The rooms at the Sahara are a bit on the small side, but revelers who plan to be out on the town until the wee hours should not mind that too much. The Sahara does have a pool for hotel guests, but the weather can be a bit cool for swimming in December, even in sunny Las Vegas.
