Planes, trains, and automobiles--from Oklahoma City, you can take any of these and arrive in Texas for a relatively low price. With Dallas only three hours away, and the Houston area/Texas coast only a few hours with a direct flight from Oklahoma City, there are nearly no limits to what you can do. A six-hour car trip to Austin will get you in the heart of the music scene, offering endless shows to many of the major up-and-coming bands at an affordable price. If you aren’t game for the eight-hour plane ride to San Antonio, you can likely find plane tickets for under $200. From historical sites such as the Alamo to restaurants and shopping, San Antonio offers a range of affordable activities for the whole family. If you want something a little more adventurous in Texas, hop on the Heartland Flyer and head to Fort Worth for a day trip or spend a whole weekend.
