Prices are rising all around us. Seafood is not an exception, either, and to begin with- they've always been pretty pricey. Walleye, salmon, tuna, mussels, squid, shrimp and so many more seafood delights for a not so delightful price. However, here a few tips on what to look for and where to go for the best prices in town.

Free. Nothing in life is free- or else it has a catch. A catch is exactly what you're looking for when you go fishing! Where I'm from, the Land of 10 Thousand Lakes (Minnesota), there's plenty of opportunities to go fishing and catching your own walleye! The only thing it'll cost me is probably a fishing pole (if you don't have one) and some bait.

If you're not a fisher, your luck's not out yet. If you happen to have a Farmer's Market and they sell fresh fish- you're in luck! The Farmer's Market is a market place where local farmer's may bring their goods to sell. Here, you will always find great deals! From all your vegetable needs for a deep discount, to big bouquets of flowers for less than $10, and even seafood for sale!

Another type of local seller's you should keep your eyes out for are farmer stands. These are vendor's who open shop along busy streets. In an open lot or on the sidewalk. They are most commonly seen selling the pumpkin patches during Halloween or Christmas Tree seller's during the Holiday's. These single vendor's always have a great deal going on. So look out for them, weather it's strawberries, or corn, or seafood- you'll be sure to have struck a great bargain.

So you're not a fisher, you're not a Famer's Market specialist, and you don't have time to look for a vendor on the street. That's fine, because this next tip is for everyday people who are in an area where there is an Asian Grocery store. I'm sure other ethnic grocery store's may have deals as well, but I'm going off on past experiences. Asian grocery stores sometimes sell already made foods. Some even sell whole cooked walleye or salmon's or smoked carp at $5 for one. Some Asian Grocery stores (if big enough) have their own fresh seafood selections to choose from (if you don't mind the smell- because believe me, they're fresh- alive fresh, and you know it's going to smell). Either way- I have found that they are cheaper than at a normal big chain grocery store. A bag of jumbo shrimp, raw, with 50 of them at my local Asian Grocery store goes for $12.99-$13.99. At the local big chained grocery store, for 18 jumbo shrimp, you're looking at double the price- if not more. At another Asian grocery store, their squid was going for $1.99lb.
