Royal Caribbean With Kids Information

On a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, families can spend lots of time together, or you can safely let your children participate in separate supervised activities. Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has well-designed children's facilities and programs to make their cruise vacation as memorable as mom and dad's--and perhaps very different--depending on the child's age and level of independence.
  1. Infants and Toddlers

    • Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas have fully-staffed nurseries. Parents can leave their children day or evening for an hourly fee. RCI ships also invite passengers with infants in strollers to participate in a special walk around the jogging track.

On Freedom Class ships, Oasis and Allure of the Seas, children who are not potty-trained or still in diapers have their own Baby Splash Zone because health regulations prohibit them from the ships' main pools.

Children 6 to 36 months old are welcome to participate in fun, educational 45-minute playgroups designed by Fisher-Price for RCI. You must stay with your child during these activities. Later, to keep your children occupied in your stateroom, you may borrow Fisher-Price toys through a lending program.

Children 18 to 36 months may attend creative artistic workshops featuring Crayola Beginnings products. Parents are welcome to join in. RCI counselors also lead toddlers in imaginative role-plays with pirates, castles and exotic places. Children dance and sing while learning the alphabet, how to count, phonics and much more because RCI thinks education is "FUNdamental."

    Kids

    • Adventure Ocean is supervised group play for Aquanauts ages 3 to 5, Explorers 6 to 8, Voyagers 9 to 11 and children 12 to 14. Activities are age-appropriate yet challenging, like science experiments and learning about the ship's destinations while meeting and making new friends. Lunch and Play programs feature a meal, movies and playtime from noon to 2 p.m.

    Teens

    • Youth 15 to 17 have more freedom and less structure with sports, parties and movie nights. In their own lounge and nightclub, they can hang out and party with new friends. Teens also enjoy the Arcade. They pay with their onboard SeaPass card, but you can set daily limits on spending or block their Arcade access altogether.

    My Family Time Dining

    • At mealtime, kids can order from the the healthy Children's Vitality Food menu and be served within 40 minutes so they can return to their activities while you linger over dessert. The youth staff also hosts kids-only dinners to let you enjoy an adults-only evening.

    Children's Staff

    • RCI's Sitters at Sea will watch children older than 1 year in your stateroom for an hourly fee. This service is especially handy if you want to take a shore excursion your child wouldn't enjoy. Every youth staff member is certified in CPR, with advanced education in recreation, education or a related discipline, as well as practical experience with children.
