An alternate view of Scotland's ancient history, the Ghosts and Monsters tour shows visitors some of the oldest castles and sites in the area. Starting off in Edinburgh, local guides lead tourists through historic sites while telling local legends, including that of William Wallace, then you head to lunch at Loch Lomond. Before reaching the next stop in the Highlands, you make stops at Loch Fyne, Dunadd Fort and the castle at Carnasserie. All scheduled stops, as well as a tour of a distillery, are included. The highlight of the visit is an after-dark guided tour of the Castle Menzies, a former fortress built in the 16th century that now serves as a tourist attraction. The tour guide retells stories of the former owners as well as tales of supposed paranormal activity and ghost sightings in the building and on the grounds. The excursion ends with a trip to the religious center of St. Andrews, home to a 15th-century castle and considered the origin of golf.
