In August, Europeans from all over the continent flock to the south of France, to Nice, Marseilles and all the other beautiful towns and villages along the Mediterranean. Because August is traditionally the vacation month for most Europeans, it is a good time to steer clear of southern France. However, any other time of the year, the south of France is an excellent place to take a vacation and visit by jet. Nice will probably be the main hub, and the town is quite accommodating for tourists. However, if you don't mind a short train ride along the picturesque coast, many other beautiful places can be visited along the French Riviera, all just a few hours away from the airport.
In the winter and into the early spring, Europeans and tourists from all over the world flock to the majestic slopes of the Alps in the heart of Europe, straddled by the efficient little country of Switzerland. Geneva, Lausanne, Bern and Zurich are the main airport hubs in the country, but there are smaller private airports if your jet can fly there, weather permitting. From these hubs there are ski resorts and slopes a short distance away, which can be reached by car or cog railway (a train that goes up the mountainside). The Swiss public transportation system is often so reliable that you could ideally fly to Switzerland for a day, ski all day, spend the night and leave the next morning without a hitch in your travels.
There are a number of outstanding festivals worthy of a jet vacation in northern Spain. Perhaps the best-known such festival is Pamplona's Running of the Bulls, during which bulls are released in the narrow streets and people sprint away from them. Also popular is the annual tomato festival in Bunyol, during which the town's residents and visitors participate in a massive tomato fight. To get in on the action, a flight to Madrid is probably your best bet, and then a train north, unless you want to try a smaller airport such as the ones in Zaragoza or Valladolid.
