How many road accidents have there been in the UK last 50 years?

There have been approximately 1.6 million fatal and serious road accidents in the UK over the past 50 years. In 2020 alone, 1,460 people were killed in road accidents, down from 1,752 the previous year. The UK government has set a target to reduce the number of road deaths to zero by 2050.
