How old is MT Everest?

The age of Mount Everest is estimated to be between 50 and 60 million years old. It was formed as a result of the collision between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, which began around 50 million years ago. As the Indian plate moved northwards, it collided with the Eurasian plate and was forced beneath it. This process, known as subduction, caused the rocks of the Indian plate to melt and rise to the surface, forming the Himalayan mountain range. Mount Everest is the highest peak in the Himalayas and is thought to have been formed around 60 million years ago.
