Nunavut's Snow Cover: Not Year-Round—Summer Thaw Brings Green Landscapes

Nunavut does not have permanent snow cover. While winter temperatures stay far below freezing, summer (June–August) brings highs of 10–20°C (50–68°F). Snow melts completely across most of the territory, revealing tundra vegetation, wildflowers, and migratory wildlife. Only high-elevation glaciers and persistent ice caps remain white year-round.
