The Norfolk Island pine (Araucaria heterophylla) is native to the South Pacific and popular as a living Christmas tree. It is not cold-hardy and cannot survive winter outdoors in most climates.

Only suitable year-round in USDA zones 10–11 (southern Florida, coastal Southern California, Hawaii). Plant in well-drained soil, full sun, protected from wind and salt spray.
