Why does it not go dark on christmas day in antarctica?

It does get dark on Christmas Day in Antarctica. In fact, Antarctica experiences continuous darkness for months during its winter, which usually lasts from late March to late September. It doesn't receive any direct sunlight because of the tilt in Earth's axis. So if you were at the South Pole, you would experience 24 hours of nighttime in the middle of winter, including on Christmas Day.
