Which areas of Greenland are covered in ice?

Almost 80% of the land in Greenland is covered by the Greenland Ice Sheet, a massive ice cap with an area of 1.7 million square kilometers (660,000 square miles). The ice sheet is several kilometers thick and contains the largest volume of ice on Earth outside of Antarctica. The Greenland Ice Sheet covers most of Greenland's interior and extends to the coasts in many areas, although there are some narrow, ice-free zones along the coast, particularly in the south and west. The ice sheet is formed by the accumulation and compaction of snow over thousands of years, and it is estimated to contain around 2.85 million cubic kilometers (680,000 cubic miles) of ice.
