Atop Mount Everest a low pressure region?
The summit of Mount Everest is in a region with high atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure is the weight of the air column above a given location, and it decreases as altitude increases. However, at the summit of Mount Everest, the air is much colder than at sea level, and cold air is denser than warm air. As a result, the weight of the air column above Mount Everest is greater than the weight of the air column at sea level, and the pressure is higher.
