How much of Antarctica is explored?

Antarctica is the least-explored continent on Earth, with approximately 80% of the continent and surrounding seabed remaining unexplored. This lack of exploration can be attributed to the harsh climate, extreme isolation, and logistical challenges posed by the environment.

The explored regions are primarily accessible during the short summer period; however, many of its interior parts and regions hidden beneath thick ice remain difficult to study, posing limitations on detailed geological mapping and further scientific investigations. Despite ongoing advancements in research techniques and technologies, the full expanse of Antarctica remains the final frontier of geographical expeditions.
