Snow Valley Barrie promotes itself as a family resort and "Ski Canada Magazine" voted the resort the "Best Ontario Hill for Kids." The mountain has 19 ski and snowboard trails for varied ability, a snow-tubing park with more than 600 tubes and miles of groomed snowshoe trails. Blue Mountain is a year-round resort located at the beautiful Niagara Escarpment. The 34 trails cover the skill level spectrum from novice to double black diamond, and 22 of the trails are floodlit. Three freestyle zones include the Terrain Park, which has trails for beginners, and a superpipe. The park hosts events and competitions, including the TELUS Triple Challenge Ski and Snowboard Festival, which is the second largest skiing and snowboarding festival in Canada. Instruction is available for everyone and includes race training for adults and snowboarding programs. Deerhurst is a luxury treat situated at Peninsula Lake with lots of activities and packages throughout the year including golf and spa treatments. The Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area hosts the winter season, which is five minutes away by shuttle bus. Snow sports include snowmobiling on groomed trails, snowboarding and downhill skiing. Sleigh rides and dog-sledding rides are organized and there is an outdoor ice skating rink and a snow tubing hill. There are also trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Tours of the backcountry take place by a hummer vehicle, and there are horse-drawn sleigh and carriage rides. Children's' pony rides go through the woods.
