Keystone is the ultimate in Colorado skiing. With three mountains comprising the Keystone Resort, both skiers and snowboarders have trails to keep them occupied for days. The terrain at Keystone encompasses a variety of runs from beginner to expert difficulty. The Resort also contains 18 lifts from double to six-passenger lifts and gondolas. Typically open from November to April depending on snow conditions, most runs open at 8:30 a.m. Keystone Resort does offer night skiing and snowboarding that typically runs until 8 p.m.
The resort along includes the A51 Terrain Park where skiers can test their freestyle jumping at the super pipe or any of the other three jump lines. Complete with its own lift, skiers can spend all day at the park to perfect their skills. Already an expert and want a challenge? Hop aboard a snow cat and allow Keystone Adventure Tours to take you to the top of Independence Bowl. Professionals guide you through powder and trees and provide a lunch. Tours leave once daily at 8 a.m and the price is all inclusive.
If you're new to skiing, or simply want to perfect your form, try skiing and snowboarding lessons at Keystone Ski & Ride School. If you prefer a group setting, instructors take both kid and adult groups on full-day or half-day lessons. If you'd prefer one-on-one time with a professional, sign up for private lessons when instructors will give you individual attention and guide you through the trails on the mountain.
Keystone offers activities for the whole family. In the heart of the Keystone Resort, in Lakeside Village, lies Keystone Lake. In the winter, head to the largest Zamboni-maintained outdoor skating rink in North America. Holiday music plays as skaters glide over the ice. With hours also designated for pick-up hockey games, the rink has a variety of uses for the family. It is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. for skaters to take advantage of both day and night skating.
On Keystone Mountain, both parents and kids can tube on the snow at Tubing at Adventure Point. A state-of-the-art conveyor lifts take tubers up the hill where you can tube as much as you want. Open during the winter from Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. For an activity anyone can do, take the whole family on a scenic sleigh ride. The one hour tour beginning in Keystone takes guests through the Soda Creek Valley on a large sled pulled by draft horses. Get ready to see the backcountry of Keystone as you glide in your sleigh.
