The Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort, billed as "North America's top ski and snowboard resort," is one of the most popular and famous ski destinations in North America. This preeminent resort is, in fact, the "Official Alpine Skiing Venue for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games." They offer skiing into mid-summer (July), and over 8,000 acres of skiable terrain between both Whistler and Blackcomb. (The resorts merged in 1997.) Overall, the resort has 38 lift systems for its 200 trails, or ski runs. Other activities at the resort including snow tubing, snow shoeing, and mountain biking during the offseason.
