When do people go to Everest?

People can visit Mount Everest during two brief seasons: the pre-monsoon season in April-May and the post-monsoon season in September-October. In April and May, climbers experience milder temperatures and relatively stable weather. The days are warm, but the nights can be cold. The jet streams that bring much of the Himalayas’ notorious weather tend to be calmer during this time. The temperature usually rises above 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit) at elevations below 5,500 meters (18,000 feet). October provides a similar pattern of mostly clear skies and relatively warm weather, although snowfall starts to occur towards the end of the month.

June to August is the summer monsoon season, when the region is hit by heavy rains and landslides. In the winter months, temperatures drop significantly, making the climb very dangerous.
