The Falklands have a cold oceanic (subpolar) climate—consistently cool, windy, and damp year-round.

• Winter (May–Sep): Avg 2–5°C (36–41°F); frequent gales, sleet, snow showers.
• Summer (Oct–Apr): Avg 8–12°C (46–54°F); long days, but rapid weather changes, rain, wind.
• Wind: Near-constant westerlies (20–30 knots avg); "Roaring Forties" latitude.
• Humidity: High (80%+); makes it feel colder.
• Sunshine: Low (~1,600 hrs/yr); often overcast.

No extreme cold (rarely below −5°C / 23°F) or heat (rarely above 20°C / 68°F). Visitors need windproof, layered, waterproof gear year-round.
