Four socio economic challenges facing Ghana?

1. Poverty:

Ghana has made significant strides in reducing poverty in recent years, but the country still faces a significant challenge in this area. According to the World Bank, approximately 23.4% of the population lived below the national poverty line in 2019. Poverty is particularly acute in rural areas, where the majority of the population depends on agriculture for their livelihood.

2. Unemployment:

Unemployment is another major socio-economic challenge facing Ghana. The unemployment rate was estimated at 7.3% in 2019, but this figure is likely an underestimate, as it does not include discouraged workers who have given up looking for work. Youth unemployment is particularly high, with over 12% of young people aged 15-24 unemployed.

3. Inequality:

Inequality is another major socio-economic challenge facing Ghana. The country has one of the highest levels of income inequality in the world, with the richest 10% of the population earning more than 30% of the national income, while the poorest 50% earn only about 15%. Inequality is also pronounced in terms of access to education, health care, and other basic services.

4. Climate Change:

Climate change is also emerging as a major socio-economic challenge for Ghana. The country is already experiencing the effects of climate change, such as rising sea levels, erratic rainfall, and droughts. These changes are having a significant impact on agriculture, water resources, and human health.
