What did Italy take from Ethiopia?

In the Second Italo-Ethiopian War of 1935-1936, Italy conquered and occupied Ethiopia under Benito Mussolini's fascist regime. While Italy never formally annexed Ethiopia, they did assume direct colonial rule over what was known as Italian East Africa, establishing Ethiopia as its colony along with Eritrea and Italian Somaliland.

During their occupation, the Italians engaged in brutal oppression and human rights abuses toward Ethiopians, resulting in extensive loss of life. The conflict concluded when British and Commonwealth forces defeated Italian forces in Ethiopia during World War II and subsequently liberated the country in May 1941. The occupation caused considerable destruction and suffering amongst the Ethiopian population.
