Is Kosovo a Country And Where It Situated?

Kosovo is a partially recognised state and disputed territory in southeastern Europe. It is mostly inhabited by Albanians, with Serbs and other minorities also present. Kosovo has been the subject of a territorial dispute between Serbia and Kosovo since the latter declared independence in 2008.

Kosovo is located in the Balkan Peninsula, bordered by Serbia to the north and east, Albania to the west and south, and Montenegro to the northwest. It has an area of approximately 10,908 km2 (4,212 sq mi). The capital and largest city of Kosovo is Pristina.

The status of Kosovo is disputed. Serbia does not recognise Kosovo's independence and considers it to be a part of its own territory. Kosovo has been recognised by 98 UN member states, but Serbia, Russia, China, and five EU member states do not recognise it.

Kosovo is a member of several international organisations, including the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. It is also a member of the Council of Europe and has observer status at the United Nations.

Kosovo is a potential candidate for membership in the European Union, but it must first meet certain criteria, including resolving its territorial dispute with Serbia.
