Causes of the Nigerian Civil War (1967–1970)

The Nigerian Civil War (Biafran War) resulted from deep-seated structural issues:

2. Economic disparities: Oil-rich Niger Delta vs. agricultural North fueled resentment.
3. Political corruption: Undermined services, economy, and trust in government.
4. Religious conflict: Muslim-Christian tensions, especially in the North.
5. Environmental degradation: Oil pollution in the Delta sparked local conflict.
6. Human rights abuses: Military extrajudicial killings, torture, arbitrary arrests alienated citizens.
