How much does Namibia make mining diamonds?

In 2021, Namibia produced approximately 1.7 million carats of diamonds. The estimated value of these diamonds is around $1 billion. This makes Namibia the fourth largest producer of diamonds in Africa, after Botswana, South Africa, and Angola.

The diamond mining industry is an important part of Namibia's economy. It contributes about 10% to GDP and employs about 100,000 people. The majority of Namibia's diamonds are exported to Europe, the United States, and Asia.

The Namibian government has a 50% stake in the country's largest diamond mine, Namdeb. The other 50% is owned by De Beers. Namdeb is responsible for producing about 80% of Namibia's diamonds.

The Namibian government uses the revenue from diamond mining to fund various development projects, including education, health care, and infrastructure.
