Who brought Islam to Nigeria?

Islam came to Nigeria through trans-Saharan trade. Trade routes that started from Northern Africa reached parts of West Africa including Nigeria as early as the 11th century introducing Islam. Islam was further spread by the Fulani people who migrated from the Senegambia region in the 14th century.
