Miami Beach, part of the busy international metropolis of Miami in Southeast Florida, is a recreational hotspot for residents and visitors.     The Venetian Pool

    • For people who like swimming but don't like the sand, or for families with kids who like pools, the Venetian Pool, which is open to the public in February, is an ideal swimming spot near Miami Beach. Located in upscale Coral Cables, the pool is a historical landmark, built in 1924 and included in the National Register of Historic Places. The pool is known for being wildly unique with Spanish-style porticos and waterfalls, making it a romantic spot for couples or an exotic location for children.

    Mountain Biking

    • For a fun way to stay active on dry land, you can go mountain biking at Oleta River State Park, the biggest urban park in Florida, according to Florida State Parks. Known for its mountain-biking trails, the park contains ten miles of moderately-challenging to advanced trails and four miles of trails for beginners. There is also a three-mile-long paved trail for kids or roller-bladers to enjoy.
