Attractions in Miami Beach

There are three main components to the city of Miami Beach: North Beach (46th Street to 78th Street), Central Beach (21st Street to 46th Street) and South Beach (5th Street to 21st Street). The historic city has many cultural attractions. Whether you're a local or visitor, Miami Beach is full of attractions to keep people visiting time and time again.
  1. Lincoln Road

    • Lincoln Road is Miami Beach's top commercial area, with shops, nightclubs, bars, and restaurants. The outdoor shopping area stretches down ten blocks lining both sides of the street between Alton Road and Washington Avenue. Stores uncommon to regular indoor malls make this area a distinctive shopping attraction. Cool and contemporary restaurants also offer indoor or outdoor seating. The area is ideal for pet walking or people watching, with street side entertainers such as painters, musicians and even mimes at each street corner.

    Museums

    • A variety of different museums around Miami Beach cater to all interests. The Bass Museum of Art collects, preserves and exhibits visual arts. The Wolfsonian-FIU Museum is a division of Florida International University, when Mitchell Wolfson, Jr. donated his collection and museum facility to the university. The museum exhibits,and preserves the Mitchell Wolfson, Jr. Collection of Decorative and Propaganda Arts, with a vast collection of furniture, paintings, books, prints, and decorative art objects. Visit the World Erotic Art Museum, home of the largest collection of erotic art in America. Collections include one of kind paintings, sculptures and art objects within 20 rooms and spread throughout 12,000 square feet.

    Theaters

    • In 1934, Paramount Studios opened the now art deco venue that is called the Colony Theater. Built as a performing arts site, the Colony located right on Lincoln Road, housed a variety of productions including dance, opera and theater. Today, it has occasional showings of live theater and often it will hold special movie premieres or new movie screenings. The theater also hosts several year round special events including the annual Miami Latin Gay Film Festival in April and the Brazilian Film festival in August. For those wanting to catch a mainstream Hollywood movie, the Regal Cinema on Lincoln Road plays new and current box office releases with showings past midnight.

    Beaches

    • Several beaches are within the city of Miami Beach. Haulover Beach which is nestled on the north end of Collins Avenue is known for its crystal sand and high waves, which have been featured on Travel Channels "Top Beaches List." In addition to its clean reputation, the entire north side of the 1.25 mile beach is considered a nude beach. The beach also features amenities like barbecue grills, food and drink stands and showers. Lifeguards are always on duty. If you travel to the south end of Collins Avenue, you'll discover the infamous South Beach. The beach is extremely popular for annual volleyball tournaments, fitness festivals and for the bars and clubs within walking distance of the shore.
