The Center is dedicated to healing and releasing sick or injured sea turtles on the island, a favorite nesting area for loggerhead sea turtles. During afternoon visiting hours, the public is welcome to visit the "patients," learn about sea turtles and gain a little insight into what the Center does.

The Surf City Ocean Pier stretches 937 feet from Topsail Island into the waters of the Atlantic. Destroyed by Hurricane Fran in the mid-1990s, the pier was rebuilt and since 1997 has offered fishing, bait and tackle, a gift shop, burger grill and game room to entertain children of all ages.
