Bali's Museums

• The Museum Purl Lukistan presents modern Balinese art, while the Neka Museum features art made by Indonesian and foreign artists when they were in Bali. Art galleries in Bali sell traditional Balinese paintings.

Kuta Beach

• Kuta Beach is known for its sunsets and its waves. The long beach with no rocks or coral makes it easy for beginning surfers to navigate, and there are plenty of cheap bars and clubs for after sunset.

Rice Paddies

• The terraced rice paddies between Candidasa and Amlapura are beautiful. Bike tours through Bali let visitors see the rice fields and temples of the countryside at a leisurely pace.

Nusa Dua

• The Nusa Dua tourist resort area on the Bukit Peninsula is home to beautiful hotels, white sand beaches and clean, clear water. Museum Pasifika in Nusa Dua features art from all over the Pacific islands. Sawangan Beach offers rides on camels.

Legian Beach and Double Six Beach

• Legian Beach and Double Six Beach are next to each other between Kuta and Seminyak. These beaches are less crowded than many on the island, and have hip bars and lounges nearby.

Tanah Lot

• Tanah Lot is a 16th century sea temple built on a huge rock surrounded by the ocean. Poisonous snakes surround the base of the temple.

Sanur Beach

• Sanur Beach is home to many art galleries and temples. The beach here is warm and calm, gentle enough for children.

Batubulan

• Batubulan is a village on the northwest side of Bali known for the sandstone carvings of gods and demons which the villagers carve. It's possible to stop and see the artists at work.

Uluwatu Temple

• The Uluwatu Temple in the Jimbaran Beach section of Bali is one of nine major Balinese temples, built to guard the island. It is home to dozens of sacred monkeys.

Gianyar

• Gianyar is the center of Bali's textile industry. Factories offer tours to show of the weaving of the traditional Balinese ikat.

Bat Cave Temple of Goa Lawah

• The Bat Cave Temple on the east side of Bali was built in the 11th century. It is home to fruit bats, and offers funeral rites on feast days.

Pura Besakih

• Pura Besakih on the side of Mt. Agung is the holiest temple in Bali, with three main temples and 18 smaller sanctuaries. Each temple at Pura Besakih holds a special festival every year.
