If you would like a location on Bali where you can not only trek through forests, but visit three crater lakes, mountain bike, climb a volcano that is extinct, visit a botanical garden, tour a famous Balinese temple and shop at a vibrantly colorful vegetable market with local fruits and flowers, Bedugul is the place.
Two resorts in Bedugul offer luxury accommodations with features to please the discerning traveler. The Enjung Beji Resort Hotel, situated on the banks of Lake Beratan in Bedugul with Mount Mangu visible in the background, is the only hotel near Bali’s famous Ulun Danu temple.
The Enjung Beji resort is made up of cottages and bungalows surrounded by gardens. Fans cool each room. However, since Bedugul is 1,200 meters above seal level, temperatures are cooler here than in other parts of Bali.
Boating, canoeing, tennis and fishing are hotel activities that complement a culture tour and a nature tour. Golf is available at the Bali Handara just a five-minute drive away.
The Bali Handara Kosaido Hotel and Country Club has a par-72 golf course. The fairway is made up of Kakuyu and local grass, and Creeping Bent Grass dominates the green. A driving range and three putting greens nestled in the forest attract tourists resting from their other activities around Bedugul; activities like trekking, crater climbing and boating. Accommodations here are bungalows and cottages with golf or garden views.

Situated only 15 minutes outside the center of Bedugul, the Saranam Eco-Resort is peacefully located on tranquil tropical mountain land surrounded by the Pacung valley and terraced rice fields. This eco-resort is a place of retreat and rest. Also above sea level, this resort benefits from cool, fresh air the entire year.
Guests in the 39 bungalows can enjoy healthy dining in a bamboo restaurant at the tip of a valley overlooking the river, rice fields and mountains. Visits to Padang Dewa Temple are possible, as well as tours to Lake Beratan or the Gitgit Waterfalls at Singaraja.
A cooking class, an intensive week-long health meditation and two-hour treks through rice fields and villages where cockfighting is prevalent offer unusual opportunities for tourists who are looking for more than tour-bus sightseeing.

Two small hotels in Bedugul offer the traveler simpler but also desirable accommodations. The Strawberry Hill Hotel opened in 2009 with five cabins, each with a colorful interior and its own balcony facing a dormant volcano. The en suite bathrooms have a bathtub and plentiful hot water which can be a treat on the cool evenings.
The Strawberry Hill Restaurant serves homemade Indonesian meals as well as hamburgers, soups and salads in front of Bali’s only log fire.
The Ashram Bedugul Bali Hotel is a home stay right on Lake Beratan. It has 27 rooms overlooking the lake and a large garden where breakfast and dinner are served. Bathrooms are private and include a bathtub or shower and hot water. You can arrive there by bus from Denpasar, and even try arriving without booking.
