Jensen Beach, Florida is situated along the eastern portion of the Sunshine State. It is well known for its stunning Atlantic Ocean beaches and boasts activities that include deep sea fishing, swimming, surfing and sailing. It is considered to be part of Florida's "Treasure Coast" and is part of Martin County. Despite the fact that this sleepy Florida beach town comes alive mostly between December and April, there are numerous attractions to keep both residents and visitors busy year-round.

  1. The Children's Museum

    • Situated in Jensen Beach's Indian Riverside Park, this museum encompasses 12,000 square feet of space. It is home to whimsical exhibits and colorful artwork, all combined to reflect the diverse makeup of the Jensen Beach community. Most programs in the museum are for children between the ages of two and 12. In addition to catering to visitors, the museum also works closely with schools and civic groups to offer a well-rounded experience for children.

    Gilbert's House of Refuge Museum

    • Gilbert's House of Refuge Museum is located in neighboring Stuart, just a mile or two up the road from Jensen Beach. It is the "oldest structure on the Treasure Coast," according to the museum's website. It was built in 1875 and was a rescue location for sailors who lost their way; it was one of 10 centers of its kind in the U.S. Today, it displays a variety of artifacts, all marine-themed, as well as traditional equipment used for saving lives at sea.

    Jensen Sea Turtle Beach

    • Sea Turtle Beach is arguably the most well-populated beach in the Jensen Beach area. Activities here include surfing, swimming, kayaking, fishing and picnicking. The beach's moniker comes from the fact that throughout the summer months, it is lined with the nests of sea turtles, all of which are protected in various areas around the beach.
