Topsail Beach is located on the southernmost point of Topsail Island in North Carolina. Incorporated in 1963, this beach community encourages conservation of the natural beauty of its town. Only 500 year-round residents occupy this beach town. Over 7,000 people visit Topsail Beach annually, especially in the summer months. For visitors and residents, many activities and attractions are available ranging from historical to exploring the great outdoors.
The United States Government began assembling, storing and launching rockets from the Operation Bumblebee site after World War II. Although the program was eventually dismantled, over 200 rockets were launched here between 1946 and 1948. The arsenal center still stands and has been converted into The Missiles and More Museum. In addition to space history, the museum also holds exhibits and events related to the town's pirating and Native American history. Exhibits are held from April until mid-October. The museum also hosts private events such as wedding ceremonies, luncheons and reunions. Pricing for tickets and rentals is available through calling the museum.
