How to Travel to Spanish North Africa

Melilla marks the last vestige of Spain's African empire. It has an atmosphere all its own, not quite European nor African. Home to an ancient citadel as well as more than 900 Modernist and Art Deco buildings, this city by the sea is known for its gastronomy and architecture stemming from the influence of several cultures. Melilla's 1.2 miles of beach along the Mediterranean coast affords visitors ample opportunity for water sports year round. Diving, snorkeling and boating are popular pastimes.
