Agadir is a popular beach vacation destination for both Europeans and Moroccans. After the earthquake which destroyed the entire city in 1960, Agadir was rebuilt with wide boulevards, low-rise buildings and ocean-view resorts and hotels.     • Agadir is located on the Atlantic coast of southern Morocco. It is surrounded by the Antiatlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert.

    • The most convenient way to get to Agadir is by flying. British Airways and Virgin Express fly regularly to the Al Massira Airport. Connections to Agadir are offered from several European cities. Or reach Agadir by taking a bus or a taxi from almost any city in Morocco. Agadir is also a port for cruise ships on Mediterranean cruises.

    When to Go

    • Agadir has dry Mediterranean climate with warm summers and cool winters. The weather is milder than outside the coastal areas of Morocco, thanks to the Atlantic Ocean; sometimes the days can be foggy during the summer. The peak tourist season is from April to October. This is the best time to visit Agadir because it gets quite chilly for beach vacation during the winter months.

    • Agadir has accommodation options for travelers with all kinds of budgets. You can either choose between any of the five-star hotels and large beach resorts with private beaches or smaller and cheaper hotels with all necessary services. All the hotels are located a walking distance from the beach and only couple of minutes away from the city center, even though they are in different neighborhoods of the city. Some hotels are also family-friendly. Restaurants serving either Moroccan or European dishes are commonly located inside the hotels.

    • Agadir is a beach vacation destination with long, wide and sandy beaches. Soak in the sun. Swim in the ocean. Rent a jet ski or participate in any of the other numerous water sports available year-round. Agadir's nearby coastal areas are also among some of the best surfing spots in the Mediterranean region.

      Visit the nearby ruins of the old fortress that includes the remains of Agadir's historic center destroyed by the earthquake in 1960. Tour the traditional Berber village and its local craft shops. Other activity options include sport fishing, camel riding, paragliding, playing tennis and golfing. End the day at any of the nightclubs that are the part of most varied nightlife in Morocco.

    Restrictions

    • Agadir is a safe vacation destination but be aware of pickpockets and street hustlers and scam artists posing as guides. In addition, remember that Morocco is an Islamic country, so dressing conservatively and respecting local culture is expected.
