Morocco is a country in Northern Africa that is slightly larger than California and a popular tourist destination. Morocco offers diverse forms of terrain, including mountains, deserts and coastal plains. The country is sunny most of the year and temperate year-round.
  1. Cities

    • Morocco's major cities are its most common tourist destinations. In addition to the capital city of Rabat, tourists also flock to Fes, Casablanca, Marrakech, Meknes and Tangier.

    Language

    • Moroccan Arabic is the most common language spoken in the country. Modern Arabic, Spanish and French are also widely spoken throughout Morocco's major destinations.

    Population and Religion

    • As of 2008, 34.34 million people lived in Morocco. An estimated 99.99 percent of residents are Muslims, with an estimated 400,000 people belonging to the Jewish faith.

    Travel Documents

    • A visa is required for anyone who is not a native of the European Union, Switzerland or Canada. These are best obtained before a trip to Morocco, and passports are required.

    Government

    • Morocco is a monarchy, with a king ruling the country with the aid of a Prime Minister.
