The Congo basin has various climates, although most of it is covered by the tropical rainforest climate (Af) due to its location near the equator.
Precipitation
The basin is characterized by heavy precipitation, falling mostly during the October to May wet season. The precipitation decreases from west to east, and from south to north. The western part of the basin receives over 2,000 mm of rain per year, while the eastern part receives only about 1,000 mm.
Temperature
The temperature in the basin is relatively constant throughout the year, with an average annual temperature of around 25 °C (77 °F). The temperature varies from 30 °C (86 °F) during the wet season to 20 °C (68 °F) during the dry season.
Humidity
The humidity in the basin is also very high, with an average annual humidity of around 80%. The humidity varies from 90% during the wet season to 60% during the dry season.
Seasons
The Congo basin has two seasons: the wet season and the dry season. The wet season lasts from October to May, and the dry season lasts from June to September.
