Why is Korea the Land of Morning Calm?

The name "Land of Morning Calm" used to describe Korea comes from the Chinese Characters "조선(朝鮮)", which means "Chosen." However, the phrase "Land of Morning Calm" is not widely used by current-day Koreans.
