Kuta Beach Activities

The beaches of Indonesia can provide spectacular locations for a vacation, with Kuta Beach in southern Bali being a prime example. Vacationers first discovered its attractions in the 1960s, and since this time the beach and surrounding area has grown from a small fishing village to a busy holiday destination.
  1. Water Activities

    • Visitors can enjoy a variety of water activities, with the relatively shallow water and breaking waves offering excellent surfing opportunities, especially for beginners. A number of surf schools have offices on the beach front which offer lessons. Wake boarding is another option, as is swimming. However, undercurrents can be strong, so it pays to heed the flags showing where it is safe to swim. Away from the ocean, water activities can also be enjoyed at the Waterbom Waterslide Park, with a river raft ride and water slides available.

    Exercise Activities

    • For those looking for some exercise on the beach, there are various activities available. At around 8 kilometers in length, walking or jogging along some or all of the white sands will provide a good workout. Locals in the area also regularly set up impromptu soccer games in the evening, and many welcome tourists and visitors joining in.

    Fun Activities

    • A fun activity open to anyone on Kuta Beach is kite flying. While bringing a kite is an option, a number of local vendors along the beach have kites for sale, and these typically come in traditional Balinese style. For those that like a little more of an adrenaline rush, the giant slingshot ride in front of the Paradiso Hotel is an option. This seats two and when activated can catapult them safely to a height of over 50 meters.

    Relaxing Activities

    • Anyone looking for relaxing activities has a variety of options to choose from. This starts with the usual beach activity of sunbathing, with sun-loungers available for rent for those that don't want to lie on the sand. Plenty of local masseurs offer services for individuals that want a little extra relaxation, and they will also typically offer manicures and pedicures. Visitors also have a variety of dining options, from the local food sellers walking the beach and hawking their wares, to the small food stalls lining the beach. The spectacular sunset over Kuta Beach can also be a relaxing way to end the day.
