Located at the narrow southern end of St. Augustine's barrier island, Crescent Beach is a residential area of the city situated on State Road A1A. Known for its uncrowded beaches and great fishing, Crescent Beach is a relatively unpopulated area with just 985 residents. A large summer influx of visitors are drawn to activities and attractions around the area.

    • Fishing is one of the most popular recreational activities in Crescent Beach. Devil's Elbow Fishing Resort has served local and visiting fishermen in Crescent Beach for over 40 years, providing accommodations, boat and equipment rentals. Located on five acres near the Intracoastal Waterway, Devil's Elbow provides opportunities for catching redfish, tarpon, sheepshead, pompano and whitehead, as well as "big game" fishing near the Matanzas Inlet. Besides providing good fishing, Devil's Elbow has a heated swimming pool, bike paths and beach access. Boat rentals at Devil's Elbow include pontoon, skiff and kayaks, as well as the option of a licensed guide.

    Hike at Moses Creek Conservation Area

    • Moses Creek Conservation Area is one of the few remaining undeveloped tidal creeks in northeast Florida. Located just across the Matanzas Inlet from Crescent Beach, the Moses Creek Conservation Area is one of the most popular outdoor destinations in the region for hikers and nature lovers. The area has a five-mile-long hiking trail through untouched wilderness that is home to deer, otter, foxes, wading birds and gopher tortoises. There is no charge for access to the park.

    Explore Fort Matanzas National Monument

    • Located less than half a mile from the Crescent Beach area of St. Augustine, Fort Matanzas National Monument is a perennial favorite amongst visitors and locals alike. The fort is situated on a sandy island at the mouth of the Matanzas River and was an important defensive structure for the city of St. Augustine during the 18th century. The monument consists of a Spanish fort built in 1740 and a 100-acre tract of salt marsh and barrier islands that is overseen by the National Park Service. The monument offers tours (both guided and solo), history talks and nature walks along the barrier island. The monument is only accessible by ferry, which leaves from the visitor center dock at half-past every hour, and is open year-round, with the exception of Christmas day. The monument and ferry are both free of charge, although donations are accepted.
