How do Chinese people answer the phone?
The most common way to answer the phone in Mandarin is with the character '喂' (wèi) or '喂喂' (wèi wèi). This is similar to the English "hello" but can also be used as an interjection meaning "hey" or "what". In a professional setting, the person answering the phone may also state their name and/or the name of their company. For example, they might say '你好,这是张三公司' (Nǐ hǎo, zhè shì zhāng sān gōng sī) meaning "Hello, this is Zhang San company".
