What united the lands in Islamic world?

There are several factors that united the lands in the Islamic world:

1. Religion: Islam served as a unifying force, providing a common set of beliefs, values, and practices across diverse regions. The shared faith fostered a sense of community and solidarity among Muslims, transcending ethnic, linguistic, and cultural boundaries.

2. Language: The use of Arabic as the language of religious texts, scholarship, and administration played a crucial role in unifying the Islamic world. Arabic became a lingua franca, facilitating communication and intellectual exchange among Muslims from different regions.

3. Political Leadership: The caliphate, as the political and religious institution, provided a centralized authority that governed the vast territories under Islamic rule. The caliph, as the successor to the Prophet Muhammad, held both secular and religious authority, and was responsible for maintaining unity and stability within the Islamic realm.

4. Economic Ties: The expansion of trade networks and the establishment of commercial routes connected different parts of the Islamic world. This facilitated the exchange of goods, ideas, and technologies, fostering economic interdependence and contributing to a shared economic prosperity.

5. Intellectual and Cultural Exchange: The Islamic world experienced a flourishing of intellectual and cultural activity. Scholars, scientists, artists, and philosophers from various backgrounds contributed to advancements in fields such as science, medicine, mathematics, philosophy, and literature. These intellectual exchanges enriched the cultural fabric of the Islamic world and fostered a sense of shared heritage and identity.

Overall, the combination of religious unity, linguistic commonalities, political leadership, economic ties, and intellectual and cultural exchange served as powerful unifying forces that brought together the lands of the Islamic world into a cohesive civilization.
