How active an ally of Japan was Thailand in World War 2?

Thailand was an active ally of Japan in World War 2, and played a significant role in the Japanese war effort in Southeast Asia.

After the Japanese invasion of Thailand in December 1941, Thailand quickly became a key logistical and military base for Japan. Thai troops fought alongside Japanese forces in numerous campaigns throughout the region, including the invasion of Malaya and Burma, and the Battle of Imphal. Thailand also provided significant economic support to Japan, supplying food, raw materials, and workers.

In addition, Thailand allowed Japan to use its territory to launch air strikes on Burma and India, and to establish naval bases in the Gulf of Thailand. These bases were used to support Japanese naval operations in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific.

Thailand's alliance with Japan was formalized in December 1941 with the signing of a treaty of alliance. This treaty gave Japan broad rights to use Thai territory for military purposes, and to exploit Thai resources. In return, Japan promised to protect Thailand from attack and to support Thai claims to territory in Southeast Asia.

However, Thailand's alliance with Japan was not without its tensions. Many Thais were unhappy with the country's close ties to Japan, and there were several instances of anti-Japanese sentiment in the country. In addition, Thailand's alliance with Japan led to its becoming a target for Allied bombing raids.

Despite these challenges, Thailand remained an active ally of Japan throughout the war. The country's support was essential to Japan's war effort in Southeast Asia, and Thailand played a significant role in the Japanese drive to conquer the region.
