Giant pandas eat bamboo. The large mammal spends 12 hours a day eating up to 28 pounds of bamboo a day.
Wild pandas live in the mountainous areas of central China, where they can find wet, bamboo forests. There are only 1,000 wild pandas left in the world.
Pandas are pregnant for five months. After this time the mother may give birth to one or two cubs. However, pandas are not able to care for more than one cub at a time.
Pandas are most noticeable for their unique coloring. They are white with black fur on their eyes, ears, muzzle, legs and shoulders, and the hair is thick wool.
Giant pandas are two to three feet tall and four to six feet long. Males can weight up to 250 pounds and females can weight up to 220 pounds.
