How is Bali ultimately defeated?

Bali's ultimate defeat comes at the hands of King Duryodhana's son, Ashwatthama, during the Kurukshetra War. Ashwatthama, seeking revenge for his father's death, enters the Pandava camp at night and slaughters the sleeping soldiers, including the five sons of Draupadi.

As word spreads of the massacre, the Pandavas wake up and mourn their deceased relatives. In order to avenge the death of their sons, the Pandavas confront Ashwatthama in battle and a fierce fight ensues.

Arjuna, one of the Pandavas, manages to disarm Ashwatthama, but refuses to kill him as he considers it would be a dishonorable act. Lord Krishna, who is on the side of the Pandavas, prompts Arjuna to punish Ashwatthama for his cruel act.

Arjuna reluctantly agrees and uses a divine weapon called the Brahmashira, which was granted to him by Lord Shiva. The Brahmashira is an unstoppable weapon that can annihilate entire armies. Ashwatthama in response launches a similar Brahmastra, resulting in a destructive clash between the two powerful weapons.

Realizing the immense danger this poses, Sage Vyasa intervenes and convinces the two warriors to withdraw their weapons. Seeing the devastation his actions have caused, Ashwatthama surrenders and acknowledges his defeat, thus cementing Bali's ultimate demise in the Kurukshetra War.
