Nawaz Khan was born in 1967 in Jhang, Punjab. He received his primary education from a local school in Jhang and went on to study law at the University of the Punjab. After completing his education, he worked as a lawyer and later entered politics.
Nawaz Khan was first elected to the Punjab Assembly in 2002 as a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), a political party that was in power at the time. He served as a member of the provincial assembly until 2007 when the PML-Q government was dismissed.
After the 2008 general elections, Nawaz Khan was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan as a member of the PTI. He served as a member of the National Assembly until 2013 when the PTI government was dismissed.
In 2018, the PTI won the general elections and Nawaz Khan was elected to the Punjab Assembly once again. He was subsequently elected as the Chief Minister of Punjab on August 19, 2018.
